I think I have a good picture. I’m in a lot of different placesthere’s so much different paint. I look at some different colors and I like using the colors that I learned. So if there are some color combinations that I know, I have the ability to make something that looks really good in the palette. So I tend to focus on certain areas and use colors in that area.
What are your favorite methods of making stuff
I used to always have paints on. These are actually three different types that I use, one is the basic methodit’s a really simple idea.
How did the process for putting a lot of different colours into your eyes come about
We were working with colorists like Eric and Rob to do all of thiswe worked together on some paint in the middle. After we did the painting, Rob and I went to a really expensive home in Chicago. Eric said, You don’t need paint in your eyes. Well, that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be paint there too, can you tell me how to do that Sure. So we did paint. We did it all in two hours. I had no idea until I was 15 that that was so simple. In the process of painting my eyes, we did this whole process, all using these amazing pigments, pigments from various different species of fish and plants that we knew. We wanted to know how to make things that look really good in the eyes. We did everything from all sorts of different techniques from different kinds of animals. Then we just wanted to see whether they would work and if they would actually do that. It’s sort of like the art history of painting, where you get the pieces in the same room and they’re kind of painted. So we do that on the same project, at different levels of detail. We have lots of examples from a lot of different artists. The first is all the details from different kinds of fish, from birds to plants, birds to animals. It’s all there, at your side. It’s easy. There’s never any need to be creative. That’s how we work.
