What Is Water Fasting Good For - Smart Dieting

Water fasting improves your overall energy status in a variety of ways, according to Mayo Clinic research published in the Journal of Human Nutrition July 1, 2017, by the University of Minnesota researchers. In a randomized, controlled trial, the researchers examined the effects of fasted-up food on both glycemic load (GHV) and body fat.

Water fasting (Fasting on water) can be effective for preventing inflammation and heart disease. Fasting on water promotes immune activation, promotes weight loss, and promotes physical activity. Fasting on water also helps to reduce blood sugar while reducing inflammation and improving physical activity.

The researchers also evaluated the effects of drinking a good-quality cup of water, such as a good quality beer, on blood sugar control, glycemic load (GHD), and LDL oxidation. Drinking a good-quality cup of water increases HDL concentration, while drinking a lot of water increases LDL level.

There’s more to fasting for health

You’ll need water to feed your diet, but a good, healthy body is one that doesn’t need it. Fasting helps maintain muscle mass and reduces your risk of heart disease and stroke. It also lowers insulin resistance that keeps blood sugar levels low.

While water fasting may seem like a pretty safe way to increase your energy independence, it can be bad news for other health problems. Drinking too much water may lead to dehydration, high blood pressure, heart disease, and even heart failure, among other health complications.

The Mayo Clinic recommends that you consult an experienced hydration coach to check your fasting blood sugar and glycemic load for signs of dehydration and high blood pressure and to help prevent you from getting too much of the nutrient.

It’s possible you may develop a health condition that is similar to this kind of fasting, but the best treatment is to take your water and fasting to a rest in order to maintain blood sugar and low levels of insulin, not to worry about low levels of body fat.

The Mayo Clinic recommends that drinking water as frequently as you can in moderation, and as often as you need to. It’s also recommended that you take plenty for several minutes during the day, and if you’re fasting, consume at least two glasses of water daily.
