CINCINNATI A former Bengals kicker turned video game designer has been sentenced to 40 in-state prison because he defrauded an Arizona judge by falsely describing his wife as a model and strong woman.
Mikael Coker was sentenced to 41 in-state prison Wednesday in Akron District Court. His former girlfriend, Jillian Green, had been sentenced to 10 months to life for defrauding the judge at her sentencing hearing at a local hospital. Prosecutors said Green did not have insurance or access to doctors.
Mikael Coker used his real estate business to get money from customers through fraudulent claims to the attorney general’s office in April 2014, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
The Associated Press reported that police believe Coker tried to trick the Enquirer into revealing the state’s 200,000 loss for fraudulent claims against his former partner and wife, including by using fake credit card numbers.
He gave the credit card company 500 when an Enquirer investigation showed Green had paid Coker a 1,000 bonus because she was a model. The credit card company denied the allegation but disputed it was the only credit card that failed. Coker’s lawyer, Michael Karpinski, told the Enquirer of the new sentence.
