Tobias In a way, that’s what they’re in every episode of The Black List. They’re a bunch of dope guys from New York, who came from every part of town. They’re all from Staten Island to a bit further south and a bit further west when you get your local city. We’re all in it together. It’s just going up in flames. It’s all pretty dope. There’s just not a lot to it.

Zimmerman Well we just get to be all over it, but at the same time we’ve started all-new stories on The Black List. I mean we’re going back to the roots, which is we’re working with the community and I think there’s actually a lot that we’re excited about going to the roots with The Black List to make a better show that people will get to see. We’re also taking our time and going through this journey with a good mix of new stuff. But I think it’s more than just ‘cause this is a big show that people are interested in and you see how people are coming into it, and so you see these new guys on it with a variety of experiences, they got a lot of money from their city and so it’s a different story than in that case where a lot of this stuff happens a couple months or 12 months after, and that’s pretty cool because we’re not just doing all this new stuff and we’re doing stuff that’s going on, it’s our new thing. We have to do that on a regular basis to try and be better for the community.
How has it become that so many of these shows are based in the black community
Zimmerman I think people know what that means, because we start as a local news organization and we’re a place we’re not part of anymore. It’s like, ‘Hey, I gotta do this, I gotta do this, but I’m the only one here.’ So you gotta put up with this new stuff, but you gotta go back to where you were. Laughs.
How much of the show was actually on-air Were you able to figure out where some of the producers are from
Zimmerman Laughs. No. For instance on the show a lot of the producers were here in NY and had kids or whatever. I do have a story with Jay and I have a very talented producer that is really good with the story.
