We have already received a request to the US Department of State to do so, an emailed statement from the State Department said. But it didn’t specify which states were on board. The State Department did explain, in part, that U.S. aid in Sudan would not go to any nation that is not a member of the African Union. The answer is no.
The one country to receive aid Sudan would be Turkey. But that country would not be Qatar. Turkey is a member of a coalition that’s been active in combating Islamic militants in a region that has seen hundreds of thousands of Syrians and Iraqis die due to a brutal US-led military campaign to overthrow Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. Qatar, which is in the midst of developing a new constitution that would ban the U.S., has always resisted backing Islamist groups on sectarian lines.
While these countries have already received money, we need to ask the US government to provide these new money from a country that is not part of the list of donors to the US on the ground, a State Department spokeswoman told Business Insider.
