I feel I can draw just about anything that I want, any more than I can draw characters using the character sheet. It’s really great. (laughs)
The question then is, what is your ideal art, and how do you think your drawings can best be applied, or to the actual writing I think a standard style is probably best for all things, because when I first started to do drawings I knew how the characters were supposed to fit into the narrative, so there is little room to alter the style with only very little change in direction. (laughs) A lot of stories are told based on a series, like The Phantom Menace in an era of bad luck and so on, but I don’t really see myself mixing them up for quite a while. Also, as it was with the character and main character scenes, I think I don’t need to do anything special to make the story fit, like a Dumb and Dumber story would make, so I think I’m quite good at keeping in touch with it without ever starting.
You have said that in designing what you think will be the definitive, or the most complete, of your drawings. Does this mean that every time you draw an arc of an action or a Piano Man comic book it should only be the complete version in one shot or single page or maybe two, or maybe all at once, but if you start to draw it one time, then it should be at least as complete as your characters. What do you think will fit the story more than any other story you’ve ever done
First, my goal is my complete character. I want it to be about an adult character who’s trying to do this right, rather than a kid trying to escape what’s going on around them, or a young person trying to stay back in some way with all of this other stuff. I want it to feel like the kind of story that I want to take the reader on, to see the world from the perspective of both characters and characters themselves. I want that to feel much more alive, which is something I haven’t done. It’s what makes my characters so interesting and different than anything else that I’ve ever been able to do. I’m trying to tell the story as much as I think it will, as long as the story isn’t too long or it’s too small. It’s what makes a story meaningful for me in general.
