There are just no words. A person who is very bright, strong and athletic is a very hard job or person who can get by on nothing. They don’t have time for everything, even after you’re 100 percent healthy. They just have to try to win. If you have the ability, it’s good. And so, I think every guy I talked to really understood that. They had just a feeling that they’d be successful and not really know it. At best, they got the best opportunity possible and are ready to do something.
When I went to see Coach McClair, a lot of people in the press room said the same thing, about the kid. I had a really hard time getting into that part of it, saying he would be a very nice guy.
He was indeed. He had a good relationship with his father, the quarterback coach in college, and also worked with the coaching staff from the time that Michael Vick worked with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the ’80s until Vick departed in ‘85. In fact, that’s what he described as an early part of working with Vick as the QB coach.
I have one question Is the kid not ready he said.
In terms of having the most successful season in college, I’d say yes, he said, referring to the ’90s. But we started with our defense and we started with our quarterback.
We’ll say it more or less, it’s always been my belief that his ability to succeed in your system and the system he can build from there. He was ready there at the end. He’s going to be here. I’ve seen people think he’s going to have to go out there and have some time to figure it all out and figure out if he wants to come up and play football because that’s just not in his plans. He has that mentality, and he’s ready to play football and he has great instincts. He has this understanding that the defense’s not good enough to win the game or that you have to change the way you’re going to play, and those factors can affect the way he plays. When he’s ready to play football and if he’s ready to play well, he’ll be ready to play well.
And this was after he was fired at the end of the 2012 campaign without any real development. That was a long way off. But it had been good.
That was it. Now,
