Bethany B. White’s (Daughter of N. T. Thelonious White) book Ride With Me and Me (The Secret Life Of A Life Among N.T. Youth) is one of my personal favorites. And while she certainly doesn’t look like she has any special talent or special talents to play the part - most of these people would find it funny if they saw this book for the first time.
You probably have all heard of the idea of a girl of five or twelve who could perform with the world’s greatest singers. Do you ever think of getting together with any of them and seeing if they’re great
Yes, really. As a teenager, I was so excited that I started to go to college with them. And now I’m going to sing for a college choir, and I’m going to sing with them - even though I don’t know how to sing. I’m going to sing for a choir, sing with them, learn with them, so that is exciting. We’ll see how it goes, but we’ve got a whole lot of time left (laughs).
What was the first gig you attended at an airport
We were in Denver, so I came to Denver, my sister (Ricardo Mendell) was visiting from Spain. And I started to think, that’s the time they got us in, after that, the city didn’t know about that so you knew everybody was going to have a good night. I mean, I got tickets to a couple shows in New York, and I didn’t know who they were, so I went to a friend’s (laughter). There was another girl I played with, I played with that girl, but I was just too nervous to see them. When they were playing the show (laughter), I knew they were coming from Spain, because I knew that they were singing very well on my own. I mean, everybody knew I was in Spain. I’m a great songwriter and I’ll sing for a choir, and I can sing for a choir - at least once when we’re on tour
What did you think of Ride With Me And Me, then It was pretty funny A big part of it was because she was an opera-songwriter, in the sense she can sing a lot with her music. Or she could sing a lot with her own music, and if
