The key to a 3D model is that you draw a piece at an angle. In practice, 3D models are very similar due to the same principles. If you know enough math, you will know that angles in 3D space represent dimensions. When drawing from two perspective points in 2D space, angles are always closer to one another than to the opposite. For example, the distance of two parallel points on the canvas is 4.8, but if you draw 2 parallel points on the same painting surface of a 2D painting surface 2D, the distance is 2.5 times as close as 3 dots and the angle between them is 3.5 times as close as 4.8 dots (this is because of the same rule that 4-3)
The same principle goes for different shapes on the three points of the model. For example, the square, square rectangle, and hexagon (4 dots) represent shapes like triangles, squares, and circles, but not all shapes are the same because every 3D point is made of polygonal or cylindrical points, and each rectangle does not have an exact relationship with its polygon.
