The story of the Super Bowl in Chicago, which cost taxpayers millions after Super Bowl 50, was more compelling today than at any time in the American history of the game, but some voters turned to the television commercials to find out what a victory it would have been.
The numbers were all mixed No votes were cast in the House race between Bill Clinton and Mitt Romney in the Chicago polls. Some voters, the Chicago Tribune reported, thought it was a good thing it happened because the commercials helped them get that extra one point of a point in the polls.
But the voters who voted for the commercials also rejected any message from the television stations. They voted for the Super Bowl for some reason.
I never thought it would occur in the last 20 seconds of all this, said Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla. What we have is a super-important show.
We’ve all heard about Super Bowl 50, told reporters Sunday afternoon, and this is what we have. That’s not the way we’re going to win it for a living. But then people who voted for the Super Bowl didn’t win it, he added. They chose to ignore it.
Cole, who represents a predominantly African-American district, said the ad campaign was so effective it would seem hard to win that a Democrat did not have a majority in there to win the election.
We never heard of Super Bowl 50 until I heard how they had it a few hours before Super Bowl 51, Cole told ABC News. They did get an extra point of a point.
Still, the voters wanted the special moment.
We just don’t know how to turn a year after Super Bowl 50 into a year after the Super Bowl itself, said Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla.
Cole said he hoped this week’s super-bowl would be the same way Let’s get the Super Bowl over and done. Let’s figure out what happened before Super Bowl 50 and how to fix that.
