The Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a warning today of severe economic impacts stemming from recent immigration action brought by local law enforcement agencies. Among those effects
Local law enforcement agencies around the country are receiving major assistance from the Department of Homeland Security, with the agency’s local enforcement resources to assist ICE in enforcing international obligations, and to assist local law enforcement agencies in their activities abroad. The department said it is very pleased DOJ Acting DHS Director H.R. McMaster continues to advocate for increased enforcement actions on local and federal level. We will encourage local law enforcement agencies to maintain efforts to maximize the potential for an increase in enforcement levels, and to work together to protect our communities.
One of the first and most effective ways ICE agencies can help local and federal law enforcement authorities in their efforts to crack down on illegal immigrants, is through public information releases. These releases help law enforcement officers identify potential offenders, prevent future criminal activity, and identify possible sources for funding for public officials to enforce federal laws.
This recent crackdown on illegal aliens by local law enforcement appears intended to serve as a warning of how the federal government is violating federal rules regarding immigration, but it is not quite as simple as it may sound.
