Do you have a group of 2 to 7 people at your conference
C I’ve always been a big fan of the online learning space, though, so the last few years I’ve definitely made an effort to take at least one online class or other training that’s designed specifically for learning the art form. But even that doesn’t mean I plan on taking things from any other place, so no, I haven’t. I’ve always been working at something that does have to do with the arts, which is drawing. So as long as people can come take a class or two, then I think that’s an incredibly fruitful practice.
KV Do you ever take a class or two after your last session of classes, or do you think your group might join again later on
C I have only one or two sessions in a year as of this writing. In all honesty, there has been an uptick of interest in that idea as a whole, and in all honesty it has led to more than one successful project.
KV What was your initial thinking on what to look for as the best place to learn Why do you think the group’s goals were so different, for example with the upcoming issue of Art of the Impossible
C I started out thinking about something along the lines of Why not take a class, and then try out stuff that I can’t really do on the art side of things In fact, the idea came about because the art side had started to focus on writing about the things that the artists wanted you to understand, like the problem that they faced, or that they were looking for more of. In that sense I thought it was a good idea, or at least an awesome idea, to try a new approach. I wanted to see if there were alternatives for drawing. That’s the one thing I always thought was kind of a challenge, thoughthat really needs to be a focus, and at least part of how I look at things before making any decisions on what to actually do comes from my ability to put in a lot of thought into what I really think is best for that artist that I’re working with.
KV Do you think your next project is worth having a student class or a drawing exercise
C Yeah, no need to think about that. It’s just, I think it’s really something I’m looking forward to doing. It’s definitely something that needs to be explored, and I
