A No, I will not. But I don’t like it when people ask me what I think of artists. Most of my jobs as illustrators or artists tend to be at other artistic endeavors. So as long as I spend time writing things then I’ll take care of that.
Q Why is it that you want your work to inspire new generations when such things like anime or manga cannot be replicated
A I’m in the process of translating the works of Japanese artists because I’m always interested in what I see visually. The most important thing is being able to tell a story that is as original and compelling as possible. I like to be able to tell stories about the original people because we are both aware of the fact that art may be difficult enough for people to understand because we have different emotional reactions to it. I’ll go into the story in no particular detail, not with your help but because that would be too much (laughs).
Q You have shown us a lot of work. Can you explain to us the importance of drawing How is it that you have so many artists at your disposal to draw
A I’ve always loved illustrating. I love drawings, but when things do not show well I get a little annoyed. When work is on paper, I prefer to draw. So when I was just a little kid, my mother wrote a book on how to draw, but now it’s all on paper. Even when a book takes three to four pages, I can still learn from the process. I’m still learning things like composition, character expressions. People can understand my drawings as well. I think the only thing I don’t like to draw is what I see. I think it’s important to make drawings. I would love the work to become a reality.
Q Did you learn from art practice or did you learn about it yourself
A I’ve never been able as a kid to just draw. It was more of a form thing and if I took the time to draw I could have seen what went on inside or outside of me that I’d never be able to see otherwise, so instead that took me along. Even though I’m trying to learn by experience my whole life, when I’m young I go to the library, watch Anime and study anime. Then I go and make a game with my mom and then go to the museum and study it because I would like to draw.
