Any of your projects of the past year have always seemed to involve you on stages and making a living. This is different from you working for a traditional media company like Netflix, but the point is that you’re not really your own artist. You’re not being paid for your work, they give you access to your own work.
We’d say those are pretty important. For example, when we first started out we didn’t feel they supported artists that were not part of our community. I was able to take the time to work with people who were already working, and I met them all. It’s just that they didn’t support artists who had been working for years.
If you have an award winning piece, how do you get it to people with less exposure to what you are doing
When I wrote the song Karate for the First Time, we were all very excited because we had never really thought about a whole new thing so we decided to try to take it beyond that. We’ve been working with a lot of groups, in my experience, and I got involved in many of those groups that weren’t paying attention, and I was so excited to be working with them.
You have been talking about this being something you should be doing at all. Is your work being seen as a work of art and have it become an art that people are trying to make themselves at home
It’s like all of A.I. now. I’m doing more people projects and creating more people-owned products. I’m doing more people-owned things, like more digital downloads and sharing to the community, but all at once. It’s one of those things that I can do at any time on any stage. It’s very fulfilling and I’m really proud of this.
You’ve been working on a documentary recently, How to be an Entrepreneur. How much of your work has been about yourself
I’m not just talking about my art. The people I’m working with, and how they’ve supported me, are in some ways bigger than I ever really imagined. I think this is in part due to this whole way of being artist, so it’s really about connecting with people and making the connections you have with the people that have actually helped your vision.
