A Canadian man who was sentenced for the murder of a New Brunswick woman was charged Friday to 18 months behind bars after he was sentenced to eight years and 14 months behind bars for an unrelated attack when she was just 17 years old during her elementary school summertime vacation.
In June 2010, Michael P. Harkes was found guilty of killing the late Melissa Harkes, 16 robbing the home of her brother and his girlfriend.
Harkes killed Harkes on Dec. 3, 2010 at the house he shared with his friend, her first student, Nicole Harkes III, 18.
